Hi, I’m bergen.

Some of you might know me as the small town girl from Bozeman, MT who moved to Seattle, WA to start my career as a strength and fitness coach. Others might know me as the founder and co-owner of the all female owned strength gym, Vibe Tribe Fitness, located in Everett, WA.

Regardless of how you know me, or if you just found me, I’m so grateful to have you here. The journey of getting to where I am now has been long, beautiful, ugly, hard, emotional, and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Since moving to Seattle in 2016, I built a successful personal training business, started competitive Powerlifting, and opened my first physical gym location.

My fitness journey started when I was a freshman in high school. I always struggled with how I viewed my body. I grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s where low rise jeans and Britney Spears’s abs ruined all of us. Back then, I felt like I had to hide or tone down my natural ability to be strong and athletic. I thought I needed to be as small as possible or else I would be seen as too masculine, or not worthy.

Everything about that time in my life gave me a unique perspective on what fitness is and set the foundation for what I build my business on today. The truth is, it looks different for everyone. I’m a huge advocate for helping people find what that looks like for them.

My coaching programs are unique to the individual, but my coaching philosophy is always the same… find exercise that makes my clients feel strong and confident, and help create long-term habits around it.

My Approach

I’m a performance based coach. The reason I encourage performance based goals vs. only aesthetic driven goals is from my own fitness journey and my experience working as a coach for over 6 years.

Performance based goals are intrinsically and extrinsically rewarding, builds confidence, helps in forming good habits, and increases the likelihood of program adherence and long-term success.

why i love performance goals.

It’s bad ass!

It is the best feeling to accomplish something that you never thought you could. It builds confidence, self-worth, adds value to your life, and opens up doors you never could have imagined.

The best part is that there’s always something to achieve. You can always get stronger, faster, and better. The only limit to your success is the ceiling you decide to set.

Training for performance keeps the process fun and adherence to your goals high.

WHAT IS A PERFORMANCE BASED GOAL?

Any goal that does not involve a scale, pant size, or any other aesthetic quality.

Performance goal examples: Squat 200 lbs., complete 1 full push-up, complete 1 body weight pull-up, run a marathon, etc.

ARE aesthetic goals bad?

Not at all! There is nothing wrong with wanting to change your body. Getting healthier and living a quality life is why we all train in the first place. The issues come when we ONLY focus on how our body looks.

From my experience, only focusing on aesthetics has a tendency to make us overly critical of ourselves, and can lead to more unhealthy behaviors than healthy ones.

As a coach, my job is to make you feel your best, and love yourself through the journey… not hate your body into a different shape.
